Description

This is a circa 1850 detached, two-storey stucco villa located at 6 Carpenter Road, Edgbaston. It originally had a symmetrical three-bay facade, though the left-hand window was replaced around 1860-1870 with a rectangular bay featuring tripartite glazing and rusticated corner piers. Original sash windows with glazing bars remain, complemented by eared architraves, with a cornice on the ground floor. A central porch features fluted Roman Ionic columns and an entablature. The roof is slate, with a boxed eaves cornice supported by large modillion brackets. One corniced chimney stack survives. A two-storey service wing extends to the left, linking with a screen wall coach house. A circa 1860 two-storey extension is present on the right, featuring a first-floor oriel and a four-centred arched ground floor window with tripartite glazing; it has a separate hipped roof.
