Description
No. 9 Carpenter Road is a detached villa built around 1830-1840. This two-storey building is finished in stucco and features a three-bay front with a plinth, a moulded sill course, a bed mould to the frieze, a moulded cornice, and a high coped parapet with a central block that has a pedimented panel. The windows are revealed plate glass sash types set in architraves, with console brackets supporting the cornices, and there are tripartite sashes on the ground floor. The entrance has a doorcase with slender pilasters and a cornice on coving, along with panelled reveals and soffit, and a rectangular fanlight above. The roof, which is partially concealed, is slate and features pairs of corniced chimneys connected by parapets on the gable ends. There is a coach house set back from the main building, which has a first-floor canted bay and is screened by a wall with piers and double doors.
