Description
No. 17 Sheep Street is a house dated 1714, built from squared, coursed limestone and featuring moulded storey bands. It has a 20th-century tiled roof with a brick internal stack and a brick end stack that has an original ashlar base. The house is two storeys plus an attic and has a three-window range with an L-shaped plan.
At the center, there is a 20th-century panelled door framed by an original moulded ashlar surround. On the ground and first floors, there are 19th-century sash windows within original ashlar surrounds. The first floor features a blocked two-light mullioned window with a moulded surround. Below this window, there is a moulded datestone inscribed in bas-relief with 'XHX/M/1714'. To the right of the window, there is a lead 'Britannia' firemark. The house also has three 19th-century hipped dormers. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
