Description
Hemp Cottage is a cottage dating from the mid to late 18th century, with alterations and additions from the mid to late 20th century that are in a similar style. It is built from coursed ironstone and has a thatched roof, with brick stacks at the ends and along the ridge. The cottage has a 3-unit plan that has been extended to a 4-unit layout on the right side. It is one storey high with an attic and features a four-window range. The central entrance has a mid to late 20th-century glazed door and panel with glazing bars, topped by a thatched hood. The left end of the cottage includes a fire window. The windows are casements with 2 and 3 lights, and the first-floor windows may be original. The ground floor windows have stone lintels with keystones, which have been renewed on the left side. The cottage also features swept dormers. The interior has not been inspected.
