Description
Lees House is a house from the early to mid-18th century, constructed from ironstone ashlar and featuring a string course and moulded cornice. The old tile roof has coped gable parapets and end stacks, with the left stack made of stone and the right stack made of brick. The house has a three-unit plan, is two storeys tall with an attic, and has a three-window range.
The central entrance includes a 20th-century half-glazed stone porch, which has three-light mullioned and transomed windows on the front and left sides, and a half-glazed door on the right. Inside the porch, there are late 20th-century glazed double-leaf doors and a moulded stone architrave. The old windows consist of three-light and central two-light casements with horizontal glazing bars. The ground floor windows feature stone lintels with large keystones that meet the string course, while the attic has late 20th-century skylights.
Inside, there is a central quarter turn staircase with winders and stop-chamfered beams. A room to the right contains an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer behind an old fascia board and shelf. The interior also includes stud partitions, moulded three-plank doors with H hinges, and a brick vaulted cellar.
