Description

No. 9 Church Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It features a front from the mid-18th century, but has an earlier core. The building is constructed of brick and has a Welsh slate roof with a stack at the rear. It stands three storeys high with a cellar and has a three-window range. The windows include 8/8 sashes in moulded and beaded cases, along with a blind opening beneath rendered lintels; above, there are 4/4 sashes and another blind opening. The eaves are decorated with brick modillion.

The entrance is located to the centre right and consists of a part-glazed, fielded-panel door from the 18th century, set within panelled reveals and a moulded architrave, topped by a moulded pediment hood. To the right of the entrance, there is an 8/8 sash window under a gauged brick flat arch, while to the left is an early 20th-century shop window featuring moulded glazing bars, which is situated beneath a later fascia board. There is a carriageway under a brick arch, which includes a single surviving plank door and exposed timber-framing with a passing-brace on the left side. The shop front returns along the side of the building. The rear of the building is slate-hung and rendered. The interior has not been inspected.
