Description
Nos. 6 and 6A on Church Street is a house that has been converted into a shop and dwelling, dating from the early 19th century. The building features a stucco exterior, which is rusticated at the ground floor, and has a slate roof. A brick stack with a 20th-century superstructure is located at the rear wing. It stands three storeys high with a cellar and has a three-window range, including 6/6 sash windows in moulded stucco architraves beneath flat hoods, and 3/3 sash windows in moulded architraves with a sill band. There is a decorative band with scrolled fluted corbels at the eaves. The entrance is on the left side, featuring a four-panel door with a plain fanlight, set within a moulded round-headed stucco architrave. To the right, there are two 6/6 sash windows and a moulded storey band. The right side of the building is made of brick and has a light to the gable, which is adorned with scalloped barge-boards and a pendant finial. The single-storey wing to the right (No. 6A) is made of painted brick and includes a 6/1 sash window under a stucco lintel, along with a four-panel door in a simple architrave beneath a soldier arch. The interior has not been inspected.
