Description
Shinscroft is a farmhouse, now a house, that likely dates back to the 17th century and was altered in the 20th century. It is constructed with a timber frame, featuring some brick refacing and wattle-and-daub infill, along with a sandstone plinth and an external stack. The building has a detached brick chimney and a tiled roof. It consists of three framed bays arranged east to west, with a southern entrance and a large external stack on the west gable end, as well as a later brick stack on the east gable end. There is an outshut with a catslide roof at the rear. The house is single storey with an attic, which includes three gabled dormers that have 3-light metal casements and glazing in the gables. To the front, there is one 3-light 20th-century glazing bar casement and a similar 2-light window flanking the doorway, which features a ledged door and sidelights. The framing is fairly complete, originally consisting of three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with V-struts in the gable.
