Description

Styles Farmhouse is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house, dating from the 17th century with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century. The building features a mix of construction styles, including part timber-framed with painted brick infill, brick replacement walling and refacing, and part dressed sandstone. It has a plain tiled roof with a star-shaped stack on the main ridge and external brick stacks at the gable ends. The farmhouse likely consists of four framed bays and is a single storey with an attic that includes dormers. A decorative cogged brick course runs between the storeys on the left side of the front elevation.

The framing is exposed on the right gable end, showcasing three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with short straight braces in the upper corners. Both gable ends feature collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen struts that are also exposed. The front elevation includes one 2-light casement window, two 3-light casement windows with cambered heads, and three gabled dormers with 3-light casements. Between the ground floor 3-light casement windows is a part-glazed door with a cambered head, along with an additional ledged and battened door located in the left bay. The interior has not been inspected. There is a single storey wing that adjoins the left gable end, as well as rear outshuts.
