Description
Briarcroft is a house dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with sections of painted brick and wattle-and-daub infill, mostly roughcast on the west and north sides. The house has a sandstone plinth and stack, with parts rebuilt in brick, a brick shaft, and a tiled roof.
The building consists of two framed bays aligned north to south, with an addition to the north. There is a south gable end stack and a bread oven, with entry through a lean-to porch. It is a single storey with an attic. The west front has a gabled dormer to the left of center, which contains a two-light glazing bar casement window. There are three windows on the ground floor; the left window has a segmental head, and the other two are similar two-light casement windows. The lean-to porch on the right features a large window and a half-glazed door facing south.
The framing is largely intact and is revealed at the rear, showcasing three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, with angle bracing extending from the main post to the wall-plate.
