Description
Gold Hill Farmhouse is a timber-framed farmhouse dating to the 17th century, with alterations from the 18th century and a mid-19th century brick facing. The house has an irregular plan, originally an L-shaped dwelling with a main block aligned east-west facing south, and a wing extending north at the west end. Later 18th and 19th century additions extend to the west and rear, including a lean-to with a catslide roof. A west-side gable stack and a lateral stack to the rear are enclosed by the catslide roof. The house has two storeys, attics, and a cellar. The south front has been refaced with brick and features a dentilled eaves cornice. It has three windows with segmental polychrome brick heads and 4-light casement windows, flanking a central 2-light window. Similar windows with square-headed labels are on the ground floor, flanking a central doorway with pilasters supporting a cornice, a plain overlight, and a half-glazed door. A forward projecting 19th century farm office is on the right, with a similar 4-light window and a hipped roof. Square-panelled framing remains visible at the rear and on the west gable, though largely enclosed by later additions, and the west gable shows weatherings. Inside, the room to the right of the entrance contains fine moulded ceiling beams.
