Description
The Martins is a house dating from the 17th century, which has been altered and extended in the mid-19th century and again in the 20th century. It features a timber-framed structure with brick infill, a sandstone plinth, and shingle roofs. The main part of the house consists of two framed bays that are aligned east to west, with the entrance located on the south side. There is an extension to the west that also extends to the north. The central entrance leads into the house, which has an east gable end stack. The building has two storeys; it was originally a single storey with an attic, but the roof has been raised. The first floor has two 2-light casement windows, with two similar windows to the left and one to the right of a gabled porch that features a partially glazed door. The framing of the house appears fairly complete, originally consisting of three square panels from the sill to the wall-plate, but now includes an extra panel.
