Description
This barn, located about 15 yards west of Logaston Common Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century and has undergone some alterations. It features a timber frame covered in weatherboards and has a corrugated iron roof. The structure is arranged in three sections of three bays, aligned north to south, and consists of two levels.
On the east side, there is a raking-top dormer on the right with ledged shutters, and two openings for a former loft on the left. The central section has a wagon entry with ledged doors. The ground floor includes a square opening on the left and a ledged door next to the wagon entry. To the right of the wagon entry, there is a ledged stable door and two additional ledged doors.
The west elevation features a porch with a catslide roof that leads to the central threshing floor. The frame consists of three square panels from the cill to the wall-plate. Inside, the barn has trusses with triple angle struts, as well as others with queen struts. The central three bays retain complete rafters and trusses, while the outer two bays have had their rafters removed. This barn is included for its group value.
