Description

Little Newchurch is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with extensions added in the mid-20th century and later. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame with plaster and brick infill, partly covered with weatherboarding. The building has brick extensions and a half-hipped roof made of sandstone slate. A sandstone rubble and brick chimney stack is present. The house is designed in an L-shape with arms extending to the north-east and north-west.

It has two storeys and an attic. The south-east elevation displays windows arranged in a 1:1 pattern, featuring mid-20th century casements with two lights and a gabled front on the right side. The roof is half-hipped above the gable. There is an entrance to the left of the gable, accessed through a mid-20th century porch with a contemporary glazed door. The frame consists of four panels high from the cill to the wall-plate. On the right side, there is an early 20th-century brick lean-to with a ledged door and a two-pane window. The north-west gable is weatherboarded. At the rear, there are two flat-roofed, two-storey extensions from the late 20th century, one located between the arms and the other behind the north-west lean-to. The interior is noted for its heavy ceiling beams.
