Description
These are two cottages, possibly built in the late 18th century to early 19th century, with later alterations. They feature a timber frame with brick infill and sandstone rubble, partly covered in roughcast. The roof is made of Welsh slate, and there is an extruded rubble stack that includes a baking oven. The cottages have a rectangular three-bay plan that runs roughly north to south, with two timber-framed bays on the south side.
The east elevation displays three windows: two early 20th-century 2-light casements are positioned together in the center, and one is to the right. On the ground floor, there are similar windows to the left and right of a 4-pane late 20th-century window. A gabled 20th-century porch with a ledged door is located to the right of center. The frame is exposed in the center and left sections, showing three panels from the cill to the wall-plate. There is a second entry in the left-hand gable. At the rear, there is a late 20th-century extension finished in roughcast.
Inside, the ground floor has an extremely low ceiling supported by oak beams. There is a cast iron range, likely from the late 19th century. The truss features raking struts that are cut across by a collar.
