Description

This is a pair of cottages located on Bedford Road in Northill, dating to the late 18th century and 19th century. The cottages were originally timber-framed with brick infill, though the road-facing elevation has been re-faced with colourwashed brick. They have a 20th-century tile roof and a four-room plan with attic space. The front elevation contains four windows on the ground floor and two gabled dormers, all featuring 2-light casement windows with glazing bars. A red brick stack rises from the central ridge, with external stacks on the south gable end and an integral stack on the north gable. The rear elevation shows exposed timber framing, entrances, and 20th-century additions. A single-storey, slate-roofed block was added to the north gable end in the 19th century.
