Description

Shetlocks Cottages is a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, which were remodeled in the 19th century. They are timber framed and covered in yellow stock brickwork, featuring horizontal bands of red bricks on the front. The cottages have a peg tile roof and a red brick chimney stack. They are two stories tall, with one room on each floor in each cottage. The cottages were expanded in the 19th century with a rear extension that is contemporary with the brick casing of the original structure. The entrance doors are located at the extreme ends of the front elevation, with modern windows nearby; above these are three timber casement windows. The roof is hipped and has a large ridge stack. The 19th-century extension has two gables at the rear, separated by a chimney stack. Inside, each cottage features a large open fireplace with a timber lintel that has a stop-chamfered design with cyma stops, and a timber newel stair located between the stack and the front wall. The main elements of the frame are exposed on the interior.
