Description
Church Cottages is a pair of cottages dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and an addition. The cottages feature red brick that covers an earlier timber frame, with a brick integral end stack and a brick ridge stack. They have a lobby-entry plan with three framed bays, and are one storey high with an attic. The front has two casement windows; the first-floor windows have segmental heads, while the attic windows are located in gabled dormers. There are doors on the left and right sides, with a vertical joint in the brickwork to the left of centre and some planted framing to the right on top of the original framing. A single-storey gabled extension is located at the far right. Inside, the cottages reveal exposed wall framing, including two cross-frames, queen strut roof trusses, and an inglenook fireplace with a timber bresummer.
