Description

Nobut Hall is a timber-framed farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with later alterations and additions. It is constructed on a sandstone plinth and has a plain tile roof, with a brick lateral stack. The main range runs east-west, facing south, and has a stair wing projecting from the centre of the north front, and an east wing projecting north.

The south front is roughcast and has two storeys and three bays, with casement windows. A gabled wing is located to the right. The central door is six-panelled, with the upper two panels glazed, and is set within a pilastered doorcase with a bracketed hood. The north front, also of two storeys, is roughly three bays wide, with casement windows; a projecting gabled wing is to the left, and a catslide roof slopes to meet the central gabled stair wing. A blocked stone mullioned cellar window is visible, along with a single-storey brick extension with two windows set in front of the left-hand wing. A projecting brick stack is located to the right of centre.

The north-west wing features closely spaced studs and square panels, though the upper panels appear to be 20th-century replacements. This wing also has V-struts above the collar. The east front has two storeys and two windows with casements, plus a small addition to the ground floor to the right. The framing on the east front has closely spaced studs, a middle rail to the first floor, and short straight braces.

Inside, the north bay of the east wing contains an inglenook fireplace. An ovolo-moulded central post is located here, likely replacing a partition wall.
