Description
This is a row of cottages located on Bedford Road in Northill, dating to the late 18th century and the 19th century. The cottages are timber framed with colourwashed brick infill and colourwashed brick facades, topped with clay tile roofs. The arrangement is in an L-shape, with one storey and attics. Numbers 13 and 15 originally formed an earlier pair of four-room plan cottages. The east-facing elevation of this pair has three ground-floor windows and three sloping-roofed dormers, each with casement windows featuring glazing bars. There is one sash window with glazing bars on the left-hand ground floor. The left-hand doorway is sheltered by a gabled open porch, while the right-hand side has a plank door. A red brick stack rises from the central ridge of the roof, and another red brick stack is located on the left-hand gable. Number 17 is a later addition, projecting from the right-hand bay, and has two ground-floor casement windows, two dormers, and a plank door on its south-facing elevation.
