Description

This is a row of cottages located on the east side of High Street, Beaulieu. The core of the building likely dates to an earlier period, but the visible structure is primarily from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The cottages are constructed of chequer brickwork, covered by an old plain tile roof. They are two storeys and an attic in height, with each cottage originally having two bays and an outshot to the rear.

Number 53 has a plank door with a segmental head and two-light leaded casement windows on both floors. Cottages 54 and 55 each have a segmental-headed plank door at the outer end, and two three-light cast-iron, leaded casement windows on each floor, plus two gabled dormers in the roof. Brick stacks are located at either end of the row and between numbers 53 and 54. A kneelered gabled wall forms the right-hand end of the building.
