Description
Buccleuch Cottages is a terrace of cottages built in 1864, located on Beaulieu High Street. The cottages are constructed of brick featuring blue diaperwork and yellow brick dressings, topped with a plain tile roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of a row of two bay cottages, a three bay cottage, and a high-set two bays of a schoolmaster's house with a large wing behind.
The left-hand cottages have a yellow plinth and pilaster at each end, with a blue and yellow band running along the ground floor below the sill and eaves, while the first floor showcases diaperwork. Each bay contains a two-light mullioned window, and the first-floor windows are set within tall gabled dormers that have bargeboards. The left-hand cottages each feature a door with a four-centred head located between the bays. There is also a ridge stack and a large stack situated between the bays of the right-hand cottage. The cottages are included for their group value.
