Description
Nos. 51 and 52 on High Street are two cottages that were originally a house, dating from the 17th century but altered in the 18th and 20th centuries. The building is timber-framed with some herringbone brick infill, and it has been encased in brick with some rebuilding. It features an old plain tile roof and is two storeys high with four bays.
On the left, No. 51 has a central half-glazed four-panel door, flanked by 19th-century canted hip-roofed bays with sash windows. The first floor has two-light casements. On the right, No. 52 has a central plank door, with 20th-century three-light casements on either side and two-light casements on the first floor. There is a central ridge stack, and at the left end, there is a large external stack made of rubble stone built on the exposed timber-frame.
