Description

Hurstley Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century, with later alterations. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame with brick infill, topped by a Welsh slate roof. The building has a T-plan layout, consisting of three by two bays with a cross-wing at the west end. It includes a cellar, two storeys, and an attic.

The south elevation displays a variety of windows, including a gable front on the left. The gable front features a three-light early 20th-century casement window in the attic and a similar window on the ground floor. The plinth has a central square opening with two diagonal oak mullions leading to the cellar. The main range includes a gabled dormer with a three-light casement on the left side and a small two-light leaded casement on the first floor to the right of the center. On the ground floor, there are two three-light casements, with the right one made of wrought iron and likely dating from the late 18th or early 19th century. At the far right side is a two-light casement. The central entrance is a mid-19th-century ledged door.

The frame of the main range is constructed with three square panels from the cill to the wall-plate, featuring angle struts from the main wall-posts to the wall-plate. The cross-wing has three to four panels from the cill to the wall-plate. The interior was inaccessible during the re-survey in November 1986.
