Description
Hurstley Court is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century, with later alterations. It features a combination of timber-frame, sandstone rubble, and brick, mostly covered in roughcast. The roofs are made of sandstone slate and have sandstone rubble and brick stacks. The building has a T-plan layout, consisting of three by three bays with a cross-wing at the north-west end. It includes a cellar, two storeys, and an attic.
The north elevation showcases three first-floor windows, with a rectangular central early 20th-century light flanked by a pair of contemporary 2-light casements. Each window is topped with a gable, the central one featuring two exposed curved braces and a pair of thin vertical posts. The ground floor of the right gable has a 3-light casement. A gabled porch with a six-panelled mid-19th-century door is located at the centre.
Inside, there is an ogeed board, likely a former doorhead, attached to the underside of the staircase. The ceiling beams have concave chamfer-stops. An original 17th-century ledged door with strap hinges can be found in the attic. The roof trusses include queen struts to collars, above which are raking struts.
