Description

The Kinnersley War Memorial is a First World War memorial that includes later additions for the Second World War. It is made of Aberdeen granite and is prominently located beside the entrance to the churchyard at the south-west corner, near the Church of St James.

The memorial features an obelisk made of Aberdeen granite, which sits on a gently tapering three-tiered square plinth and a three-stepped square stone base. The main inscription, painted in gold lettering on the south-west face of the plinth, reads: "IN MEMORIAM TO THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO SERVED THEIR KING AND COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR ERECTED BY THE PARISHIONERS 1914 – 1918 ALSO TO THOSE WHO SERVED IN THE WAR OF 1939 – 1945."
