Description

The Saxtead War Memorial is a First World War memorial that was unveiled in 1920, with names added after the Second World War. It is made of rough-hewn granite and is located in All Saints churchyard, to the south of the Grade I listed church.

The memorial features a short cross on top of a trapezoidal plinth, which is set on a rectangular stone base. The main inscription is located on the front face of the plinth and reads: "IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914–1918" followed by eight names listed in two columns, and "1939–1945" with three names also in two columns. The inscription concludes with the phrase "FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH."
