Description

The Theddingworth War Memorial is a First World War memorial that was erected in 1920. It is located at the entrance to the churchyard of the Church of All Saints, which is a Grade I listed building. The memorial is made from granite and features a square, single-stepped base, a trapezoidal plinth designed to resemble boulders, and a short shaft that tapers in rectangular section to a Celtic wheel-head cross. Both the shaft and the cross head are adorned with interlace ornamentation on the front (north-west) face. A bronze plaque attached to the front of the plinth displays a dedicatory inscription that reads:

"TO THE GLORY OF GOD/ AND IN PERPETUAL MEMORY OF THE/ OFFICERS AND MEN FROM THIS PARISH/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 – 1919/ (NAMES)."
