Description
Cruck Cottage is a cottage that may date back to the 15th or 16th century, with later alterations. It features a timber frame with painted brick infill and roughcast. The roof is made of sandstone slate and has sandstone rubble and brick stacks. The building has an L-plan layout consisting of two bays by one, with extensions to the northwest and northeast. It is one storey high with an attic. The south elevation includes two ground floor windows, which are 3-light late 19th century casements, and a central glazed door. The frame consists of three square panels from the plinth to the wall-plate, with angle struts extending from the top left of the entry to the wall-plate. Each gable displays cruck blades. At the rear, there is a timber-framed extension that is underpinned in brick. The interior has not been inspected.
