Description
Saltwell Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the 18th century and has undergone later alterations. It features a timber-frame structure finished in roughcast, with a brick extension. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has a sandstone and brick side stack. The building consists of a one or two-bay timber-framed block that is aligned roughly north to south, with an extension on the west side at the south end. It has one storey and an attic. The south elevation includes two early 20th-century casement windows with two lights each on the ground floor, and a similar casement window in the attic of the gable front. There is an entryway in a lean-to porch located on the right-hand side gable return, in front of the side stack. The interior was inaccessible during the re-survey in November 1986, but it is said to have complete framing.
