Description
This barn, located about 20 yards west of Church House, is likely from the 17th century and has undergone some later alterations. It features a timber-frame construction, weatherboards, and a corrugated iron roof. The barn consists of three bays aligned from west-north-west to east-south-east. The north elevation is weatherboarded and includes a central pair of ledged doors, which are probably from the 18th century, leading to the threshing floor. The frame has two large square panels that extend from the cill to the wall-plate. To the right, there is a one-bay, two-level extension from the 18th century, and to the left is an early 19th-century brick building that was formerly a ciderhouse. Inside, the barn features raking struts from the ties to either side of the threshing floor. The end trusses have queen struts and raking struts above the collars, while the truss of the extension has curved principals tied back to the wall-plate. This barn is included for its group value.
