Barn About 90 Metres South Of Church House Farmhouse

This is a barn located about 90 metres south of Church House Farmhouse, dating from the 18th century. It features a timber frame with some woven panel infill and weatherboarding set on a rubble plinth, topped with a plain tile roof. The barn consists of five structural bays, with a threshing floor located in the second bay from the west end. On the north side, there is a lean-to with a corrugated iron roof and plank walls. The framing includes two square panels high to the wall-plate, and the intermediate trusses are supported by slender raking struts with long angle braces positioned below the tie-beam. There are two wall-plates: the lower one is in the conventional position, while the upper one sits on the outer ends of the tie-beams and supports the feet of the common rafters.
