Description
This barn, located about 250 metres south west of Town House Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century. It features a timber-frame structure with weatherboarding that has been patched with corrugated iron, and a roof made of pantiles with stone slates at the eaves. The barn consists of four framed bays, with a threshing floor situated to the west of the centre. The framing includes three square panels high to the wall-plate, supported by internal tension braces, and was originally infilled with woven panels. The intermediate trusses are made up of four raking struts, which connect to the tie-beam and a central vertical post below, using straight angle braces. The gable trusses contain six intersecting raking struts, although some of these are now missing. The east bay is separated by a framed wall, which includes a door in the gable end.
