Description
This barn, located 30 meters east of Tiled House Farmhouse, dates back to the 17th century. It features a timber frame with tarred wattle and daub infill set on a tarred brick plinth, topped with a reed-thatched roof. The east wall has central double door openings, while a gabled porch projects from the west side. The south gable is weatherboarded, and the south-east corner is partly built in brick and clad in corrugated iron. Inside, the barn comprises five structural bays supported by tiebeams on jowled principal posts. There are arch-braces connecting the principal posts to the southern tie beam, and timber knees replace arch-braces on the ties flanking the threshing floor. The roof structure includes two tiers of staggered butt-purlins with collars to the principal rafters, and diagonal wind-bracing is present in the end bays. The farmhouse itself is not listed.
