Description

Hope Farmhouse is probably 17th century, with significant alterations dating to around 1830. It is constructed of roughly coursed rubble with slate roofs and side chimneys, arranged in a ā€˜U’ shape, with the central section infilled in the 19th century. The farmhouse is built in a Tudor Gothic style. It is two storeys high with attics, featuring three gables to the front, each with bargeboards and finials. These gables each contain a range of windows with plaster dressings and square labels. The windows are 3-light casements with transoms. The central entrance has a square label and a Tudor arch doorway, leading to a half-glazed door with Gothic glazing. The facade features equal-armed cross and scroll ties positioned centrally and to the left. The interior includes a staircase from around 1830 in the central range, featuring an octagonal newel and balusters. The right-hand range retains 17th-century chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
