Description
This is a barn located about 30 yards west of Fair Oak Farmhouse, likely built in the 17th century and extended in the late 18th or early 19th century. The structure features a timber frame, with sections made of finely coursed rubble, weatherboarding, and corrugated iron cladding and roofing. The barn has five bays arranged in a north/south direction, consisting of four 17th-century bays at the north end and one rubble extension to the south. The north end connects to an adjacent barn and cider house.
On the east elevation, there are two ventilator slits above a mid-20th century eight-pane metal window on the left side, and an 18th-century ledged door on the right. There are also raised doors leading to the threshing floor in the second bay from the right. The framed section is two panels high from the rubble plinth to the wall-plate. Inside, the heavy low trusses over the threshing floor have queen struts supporting the collars. The barn is included primarily for its group value.
