Description
Newhouse Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble with a slate roof, featuring an end stack on the right side and a second stack with two diamond-shaped shafts to the left of the center. The building has a through-passage plan and stands two storeys tall with four windows on the front.
On the east elevation, there is a 4-light 18th-century casement window to the left, a 5-light window to the left center, and a one-light 20th-century window to the right of the entrance. The first floor includes a 4-light diamond-section mullioned window to the left, a 3-light casement window to the left of center, a 4-light casement window to the right of center, and a 2-light 20th-century casement window to the right. The entrance features a 20th-century beaded door.
Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reputed to contain a local type newel stair adjacent to the central stack, along with plank and muntin screens and segmentally headed openings, as noted in the Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England, Volume I.
