Description

This is a horse trough located immediately south of the south wall of Upper House Farmhouse. It dates from the mid-19th century and is made of plain cast iron, measuring about 10 feet long. The trough features a central inscription in raised lettering that reads, "Hampton & Bromley Abergavenny." It is an unusual survivor from the era when horses were commonly used in farming. The trough has group value with the nearby barn.
