Description
Eccles Alley is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with some later alterations. It features a timber frame with an extension made of sandstone rubble and brick. The roof is covered with Welsh slate and has an extruded sandstone rubble end stack along with a brick shaft, and a bridge ridge stack. The building has a rectangular two-bay plan that is oriented roughly east to west and stands two storeys tall.
On the north elevation, there are three windows, which are 2-light early 20th-century casements. The ground floor has a pair of contemporary 2-light casements on either side of a mid-20th-century ledged door. To the left, there is a lean-to that includes a 4-pane early 20th-century window and a ledged door. The rear elevation features a lean-to extension made of sandstone rubble and painted brick. The timber frame consists of four panels high from the cill to the wall-plate, with the top two rows of panels being square and the bottom two rectangular. Inside, the farmhouse is noted for its heavy chamfered ceiling beams.
