Description
Poole House is a house that likely dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century, with later alterations. It features a sandstone rubble plinth and a timber frame, which is partly filled with brick and partly covered with weatherboarding. The roof is tiled, and there are extruded sandstone rubble end stacks with brick shafts. The building has a rectangular two-bay plan oriented northeast to southwest and consists of one storey and an attic.
On the southeast elevation, there are two windows with raking-top dormers that contain 2-light early 20th-century casements. The ground floor has four mid-20th-century casements, with two on either side of the entrance. To the right of the centre, there is an early 20th-century timber-framed porch featuring a ledged mid-20th-century door. Attached to the right side of the house is a framed lean-to that has two mid-20th-century casements. The frame of the lean-to consists of three square panels high from the cill to the wall-plate. The north gable is covered with weatherboarding, and there is a late 20th-century sandstone rubble extension attached to the south end. The interior includes heavy chamfered ceiling beams.
