Description

Ferney House is a house likely dating from the late 17th to early 18th century, with later alterations. It is timber-framed with plaster, brick, and sandstone rubble infill. The roof is covered in sandstone slate, and there is a large central sandstone chimney stack with three brick shafts. The house has a T-shaped plan, comprising a main range aligned roughly east to west and a central wing projecting northwards. The south elevation has two windows, featuring 2-light leaded casements from the mid-20th century. The ground floor includes two square, bottom-hinged vents on the left, a contemporary French casement to the left of centre, and a 3-light casement on the right-hand side. The window frames are three panels high, from the cill to the wall-plate. The north elevation has a large gable on the projecting wing, and to its right, a small gable with curved angle struts from the tie to the principals. Internally, the house features heavy ceiling beams.
