Description
Nos. 2 and 3 Bass Maltings Cottages are a pair of former workers' cottages, now functioning as two houses, built around 1900 with some alterations made in the late 20th century. They were designed by A. Couchman for Bass Brewery. The cottages are constructed of red brick and feature plain tile roofs along with a single brick chimney stack. The design includes a chamfered blue brick plinth, a moulded brick band, and overhanging eaves with timber barge-boards.
The main front of the building has two central gabled wings, each containing a cross casement window on both floors, although the windows in No. 2 have been replaced with uPVC. On either side of the wings, there are single part-glazed doors with over-lights. This building is an important part of the nationally significant Maltings complex.
