Description
The Eastern Cartshed to the Storage Depot and Stables at Bass Maltings is a cartshed, now used as a store, built around 1900 with some minor alterations in the 20th century. It was designed by A. Couchman and is constructed of red brick with a hipped plain tile roof. The building features a deep blue brick chamfered plinth and is single storey.
The main west front has three cast-iron columns that support a timber lintel, which is now filled in with breeze blocks and various openings. The other blind facades are divided by plain piers with recessed panels between them. This cartshed was originally used to house the carts that moved goods around this large industrial site. It is an important part of the nationally significant Maltings complex.
