Description
The Western cartshed, now used as a store, was built around 1900 and features minor alterations from the 20th century. It was designed by A. Couchman and constructed from red brick with a hipped plain tile roof. The building has a deep blue brick chamfered plinth and is a single storey.
The main east front is supported by three cast-iron columns that hold up a timber lintel, which has been filled in with breeze blocks and various openings. The other facades are blind and are divided by plain piers with recessed panels in between. This cartshed was originally used to store carts that moved goods around the large industrial site. It is an important part of the nationally significant Maltings complex.
