Description

A pair of former workers' cottages, now two houses, dating from circa 1900. Designed by A. Couchman for the Bass Brewery, they form an integral part of the nationally important Maltings complex. The cottages are constructed of red brick with plain tile roofs and a single brick stack. They feature a chamfered blue brick plinth, a moulded brick band, and overhanging eaves with timber barge-boards. The two-storey main front has two central gabled wings, each containing a cross casement window to both floors. Recessed to either side are single part-glazed doors with over-lights. Late 20th-century alterations have been undertaken.
