Description

The following building shall be added:

ELLESMERE PORT AND NELSON HOOTON GREEN SJ 37 NE 29 April 1977 (North Side) 2/25 Nos 1 & 2 GV II Pair of cottages, early C19 with later alterations, brown brick with slate roof. 2 storey; double-depth plan with rear outshut to No.1, and wing to No.2; regular 2-window range. Cast iron Gothic headed casements with glazing bars and interlaced tracery, at ground and first floor level, five panes wide ground floor, four above. No.2 has a plain boarded door under a cantelever bracketed door hood. Scallop-edged eaves. Fascia and exposed outrigger rafters to the verges. The gable end of No. 1 has a C20 3-panel glazed door, four horizontal sliding sashes and a metal casement whereas the gable end of No.2 has flush casements. Apex treatment consists of exposed rafter collar and dropped finial post with moulded foot. Large centre ridge stack of yellow brick with sunk panels and dentil cap.
