Description
Nos. 3 and 5 Church Lane are a pair of cottages dating from the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. The cottages are rendered over brick and stone, with the right end wall constructed of coursed squared ironstone and limestone. They feature a slate roof with brick ridge and end stacks. Both cottages have a two-unit plan and are two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range. The doors are from the 20th century and are located to the left and right of the centre. No. 5 has two-light casement windows, while No. 3 has 19th-century sash windows. Inside, No. 5 includes a stop-chamfered spine beam and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer. The cottages were formerly thatched.
