Description
Shenstone is a house located on Bugbrooke High Street, dating from the late 17th century, with a mid to late 18th century wing and 20th century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. It has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range to the main front facing the High Street. This façade includes three-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion windows, which have been replaced by casement windows on the ground floor. The ground floor windows are adorned with hood moulds, and the building has quoins and stone-coped gables with kneelers. The entrance is located at the rear, alongside the 18th century wing on the rear left. Inside, there is a fine open fireplace with a moulded cambered bressumer, bar-stop-chamfered spine beams, and original bar-stop-chamfered joists on the upper floor. The first floor of the wing features chamfered spine beams with diamond stops.
