Description

No. 2 High Street is a cottage that likely dates from around 1881, although it may have earlier origins. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone with ironstone dressings and features a plain-tile roof, along with blue brick stacks at the ends and ridge. The building has one bay and a cross wing, standing two stories tall with a two-window range.

On the left side of the cross wing, there is a plank door framed with pegged wood and a wood lintel. To the left of the door, a two-light leaded hollow-chamfered stone mullion window is topped with a hood mould, and above it is a two-light gabled dormer window. The cross wing on the right has a three-light ovolo-moulded stone mullion window on the ground floor and a similar two-light window on the first floor.

The cottage features an ironstone plinth with chamfered blue brick coping, ironstone quoins, and blue brick eaves that are chamfered to the gables. A four-bay verandah supported by square timber posts with chamfers extends across the front to the left of the cross wing, topped with a plain-tile lean-to roof that continues over a single-storey wing to the left, which has a small gable at the far left. This cottage forms a composition with The Manor House and the Manor House gateway nearby.
