Description
No. 28 High Street is a cottage dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed squared ironstone and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. The building has a two-unit plan and is two stories high, with a two-window range. The central entrance consists of a six-panel part-glazed door with a wooden lintel. The ground and first floors have three-light 20th-century casement windows, also with wooden lintels. The cottage has a rendered plinth, quoins, and a stone-coped gable with kneelers on the left side. The eaves have been raised in brick after the removal of thatch, and the first-floor windows were originally located in eyebrow dormers. Inside, the cottage features chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a boxed bressumer.
